David is survived by his wife Phyllis, his daughter Diane Branges and husband Greg of La Mesa, CA, his daughter Denise Shropshire and husband Jim of Lindsay, his son Tim Turner and wife Lisa of Fresno, his sister Rose Marie Kleweno of New Mexico as well as seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was a devoted Christian and an active member of the Exeter First Baptist Church for most of his life in Exeter, serving at various times a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Church Usher, member of the Board of Deacons and Church Treasurer. David was an Eagle Scout in his youth and served as Scout Master of Exeter Troop 309, he also served on the Exeter City Council, The Exeter District Cemetery Board, and the Exeter Memorial Hospital Board and on the Tulare County Grand Jury. He was also an active member American Legion post 94. He was a loyal member of the Exeter Kiwanis Club for over 60 years where he held every club office and also coached little league. David was a devoted husband, father and civic leader. Air Force reserve, eventually retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the war David settled with Phyllis in Exeter and in 1946 he started his own business as a "Radio Doctor", which he and Phyllis owned and operated for the next 35 years.

He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his courageous actions in combat. During the war he was shot down over France and eluded capture by traveling back to allied territory through the French underground resistance organization. While there, he met Phyllis Dawson of Exeter at a Visalia dance and they were married before he was deployed to England as a B-17 copilot. During WWII he was sent to Sequoia Field for primary flight training before becoming a B-17 pilot. He graduated from Beaumont Texas high school in 1936 and earned a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from Mississippi College in 1940. Turner David was born on Novemin Deritter, Louisiana.
